About

What is splitscreen?

splitscreen is a group chat with AI in it: friends, classmates or teams share rooms where anyone can ask Claude, GPT or Gemini, and everyone sees the answer.

People talk in a room as they would in any group chat. When someone wants the AI, they mention it with @ (for example @Claude, @GPT, @Gemini, or @AI to let splitscreen choose) and the answer lands in the room for everyone to read.

Each room has shared Notes that every AI reads before every reply, so rules, decisions, character sheets and canon carry across chats and across models.

splitscreen is an independent web app. It is not made by OpenAI, Anthropic or Google; it uses their models through their APIs.

Who it is for

  • Friends running tabletop RPGs with the AI as game master.
  • Writers and world-builders working on one story or setting together.
  • Students studying together, with the AI as a tutor.
  • Families and friends planning trips and settling questions.
  • Teams and agencies working with clients, with a budget per room.

What people do here

  • Run an RPG campaign: An AI game master that keeps your rules and character sheets, rolls in the open and waits for every player.
  • Build a world or write a story: A shared canon log every AI reads, consistency checks, and feedback on each chapter.
  • Study together: Explanations everyone can see, quizzes one question at a time, and shared notes for the exam.

What it does

  • Rooms for groups, with as many chats inside each room as you like.
  • Claude, GPT and Gemini, chosen per message, or all three side by side.
  • Room Notes and decisions that every AI reads on every reply.
  • Polls, a shared doc per chat, pins and search.
  • Every AI reply shows which model wrote it, what it cost and who paid.
  • One person can pay for the whole room, up to a cap they set.
  • Imports from ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini.
  • Menus in 28 languages, and translation of any message.
  • Works in the browser on phones and computers, with nothing to install.
  • Your own AI agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other MCP apps) can join a room as you.

What it costs

It is free to start: every account gets 50 free AI replies a day on fast models (GPT-6 Luna and Gemini Flash-Lite) once you verify your email. For stronger models, buy credits from $5 a pack. Or one person gets Squad for $15 a month: the whole $15 comes back as credit (about 1,600 smart replies a month), and friends in your rooms get stronger models from your credit, with a daily limit each. You can also bring your own API key, with no markup.

Questions

Is splitscreen the same as ChatGPT?

No. ChatGPT is OpenAI’s assistant app. splitscreen is a separate group chat app that lets a room of people ask OpenAI’s GPT, Anthropic’s Claude and Google’s Gemini, and see each other’s answers.

Do my friends need accounts with OpenAI, Anthropic or Google?

No. They need a splitscreen account to join a room. AI replies run through splitscreen, and one person can pay for the whole room, up to a cap they set.

Does everything we type go to an AI?

No. Nothing you type is sent to the AI or costs you anything until someone asks it something. A catch-up sends the messages it sums up, and Translate may send a message to a small model, free to you, when your browser cannot translate it.

Is our chat used to train AI models?

We do not train AI models on your content. Under Anthropic’s and OpenAI’s API terms, content sent through their APIs is not used to train their models by default, and splitscreen uses paid tier Gemini access, which Google does not use to improve its products.
